Eustace and Halt: Commonweal Fanart

I have been saying for ages that I should put my Commonweal fanart on this blog. Finally getting to it, and starting by backdating the stuff I've already posted in rachelmanija 's comments. Drawing + commentary under the cut.

Sometimes I read a description and am driven to set it out visually-- " It looks like someone set out to cross malice with a sheep and got black iron and brass into the malice." is a fine example of this, so Eustace jumped to the front of my Commonweal fanart queue. An accompanying Halt & knitting bag establishes the context. I was thinking of Eustace as buffalo-sized at the time. I've since been informed a full grown Eustacen should be a bit taller than an African Elephant, which, goddamn, that is a large sheep. Some research into shapeless grandma hats and how to draw knitting was also involved. Can firmly say I will not be attempting the six-arms-reaching-across-time-knitting as the simple case was sufficiently difficult.
